The Tiêp Hiên Order or Order of the Inter-Being was founded in Vietnam during the war in the 60s, to combat violence and hatred that raged at that time .. It is a form of engaged Buddhism, lived in everyday life, not only in retreats.
Tiêp means to be in contact. Being in touch with yourself. What we avoid in today's society.
It also means being in touch with people awake, Bodhisattvas, source of wisdom and love. Being in touch with the Buddha in themselves in order to continue the work of the bodhisattvas.
Hiên means present moment, realize. Love and understanding must be real NOW.
Tiêp Hiên was translated by Inter-Being. We inter-are. I am, therefore you are.
Members of the Order of the Inter-Being commit to observe and practice the Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings which are the essence of the Order. They are a torch that lights the way, a boat that carries us, a teacher who guides us. Think of them as a mirror in which we look at (Thich Nhat Hanh).
